Bent Adaptors
“Bent Adaptors” normally fit into the end of a gun arm or holder and are clamped in position.
They can be 90º or angled for clearance or access, these are normally angled in increments of 5º, 10º & 15º from the 90º position. 20º or 22.5º adaptors are available but not preferred and electrode deflection can occur. The accepted rule is that anything over 22.5º is not used. There are exceptions, however an alternative design or configuration is normally obtained.
Due to the bending moments under the welding pressure the adaptor material may change from CrZrCu to BeCu0.5 which is less susceptible to bending/deflecting under load.

Tip Adaptors
“Tip Adaptors” normally fit directly into the gun chassis. They are also sometimes referred to as a gun arm, however gun arms are normally manufactured from round bar and exceed 200-250mm in length. Tip adaptors rarely exceed this length.
The mounting shank on a tip adaptor is normally > Ø30mm, bent adaptors are < Ø30. Most designs are bespoke for weld tip access or clearance purposes, unlike bent adaptors which can be dimensionally grouped. Tip Adaptors normally have an O-ring groove on the rear of the shank.
